Kanavu Variyam is an Indian Tamil movie written and directed by Arun Chidambaram and produced by DCKAP cinemas. Also starring Arun Chidambaram in the lead role, alongside Jiya Shankar, the movie revolves around power cuts and electricity deficit in the villages of Tamil Nadu, India. Prior to its theatrical release, the movie was screened at several international movie festivals and received a number of awards and recognition.
Among its titles, Kanavu Variyam won the Platinum Remi for Best Independent Theatrical Feature Movie (Drama) and the same was awarded at the 49th WorldFest Houston International film Festival. The movie also won the Special Jury Award at National Science Movie Festival and Competition in India. Kanavu Variyam is scheduled to release across India on 24 February 2017.
Story based on-
Kanavu Variyam is the first Indian film to win two prestigious Remi awards. Power cuts are the backdrop to this inspiring tale about Ezhil, a village school dropout who tries to find a practical solution in spite of being thought a nutcase.
